About the Race
SFAC 5K is Ishan Gala Foundation’s signature event that really kicked off fundraising for IGF in 2009. Before the event became a 5K in 2015, the event was an evening pool party full of fun, food, and community. The event takes place near Ishan’s Birthday (August 28th) to honor him and is water themed because the pool was his favorite place to be. Splash is a chance to celebrate Ishan's life, those that have joined him in gaining their wings, survivors and those currently fighting.
There will be games and activities to enjoy for runners and spectators. The race will be followed by an award ceremony with remarks from IGF and an IGF family.
We will be at Darden Towe Park, and the course will mostly be on the trial along the river for a beautiful scenic run or walk!
Our friends at the East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Department will be spraying water over the finish line for a nice cool down.
We hope to see you there!
